LinkedIn counts 2 million members in Belgium

LinkedIn claims to have reached the milestone of 2 million members in Belgium, putting Belgium among the top 10 countries in the world with the highest number of active LinkedIn users.

"We don’t have official figures. A lot of users log on to LinkedIn via their mobile device,” said spokeswoman Anoek Eckhardt. “But Belgium is definitely one of the top 10 countries with the most active members.”

“Nearly 45% of the Belgian population of business professionals has a profile on LinkedIn,” says the head of LinkedIn Talent Solutions Benelux, Lena Olivier. The Belgian LinkedIn members are mainly from Brussels, Antwerp and Liège.

The best represented sectors are finance and ICT, followed by government, construction and health care. The organisations or companies with the highest number of Belgian members on LinkedIn are the European Commission (11,710), BNP Paribas Fortis (8,058) and KBC Group (7,037).
