Lockdown kindness raises funds for medical centres
The commune of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert has received almost €33,000 in response to a call for voluntary donations while giving away free masks to residents.
During the lockdown, the municipality suggested that residents might like to contribute a little something for their masks directly into the commune bank account, to help with shortages and equipment needed in hospitals and medical centres.
The commune has decided on four medical institutions as beneficiaries. A sum of €5,000 will go to the Michel Cremer Foundation, which provided visors for healthcare professionals based in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert with the ULB Fablab.
The Erasmus Foundation and the Saint-Luc Foundation of Saint-Luc University Clinics will each receive €12,000, while €4,000 will go to the UZ Brussels Foundation.
"Any additional donations received will also be given to the medical sector," the commune said in a statement.
