lost key to apt mailbox, anybody know the cost to replace box/key?
Hi,
We lost the key to our apt's mailbox. The landlord gave us the name of someone who takes care of this and this person said that in this case, they would have to replace the lock and that would be 65 euros.
Landlord thought that was rather expensive, but he doesn't live in Belgium anymore and he is not up to date with the prices here.
Thus, my question is, does anybody know how much does it usually cost to replace the lock to a mailbox and if anybody knows of anyone charging cheaper than 65 euros, contact info would be appreciated.

I guess it depends what kind of lock it is, so take the details before you call so you can explain precisely.
I changed teh lock on my mailbox - lock was about €5 a while back - If you are paying someone to come out - then you are going to be hit with a min charge for labour and call out. When I was in teh UK - years ago -- a colleague lost her key and had to call a locksmith out - He arrived - got out of his van - spotted the key on the drive - and charged £75 (which was his min call-out fee (that included up to 30 mins labour)
If you are getting someone else to do it - €65 is pretty reasonable. (Before calling someone - have a really good look at teh lock - mailbox locks can be pretty simple - and decide if you can do it yourself or not
