Manu Chao to play concert in Schaerbeek
French-Spanish singer Manu Chao is returning to Belgium for a performance on Thursday 29 May in Josaphat Park in the Brussels municipality of Schaerbeek.
The performance will be part of a solidarity event called Human'City, organised by citizens’ platform Belrefugees, Bruzz reports.
The May concert promises to feature new songs and well-known older work from both Mano Negra and his solo career. As has been the case in recent years, Manu Chao will be accompanied by two other performers: Argentine guitarist Matu Mati and Galician percussionist Miguel Rumbao.
Chao will also travel to Limburg this year for the first time, where he will play a concert in Genk to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Afro Latino Festival.
The artist has often performed outside of the regular concert circuit in recent years, including last year at the Balkan Trafik Festival at De Brouckère.
The Belgian concerts are part of his Ultra Acoustic Tour, which also includes a few stops in France, Germany and the Netherlands. Tickets are available via manuchao.net.
Chao rose to fame in the early 90s as the frontman of Mano Negra and then achieved worldwide success with his solo albums Clandestino and Proxima Estación: Esperanza!
After a long absence, he released a brand new album, Viva Tu, last autumn.
