Marriage in belgium

I am a belgian resident(now citizen) with an undocumented partner. We got married(traditionally) mid last year and applied for Samenwonen because I consulted a lawyer who told me marriage wouldn’t be possible.
There were documentation problems for months but long story short the lady at the commune asked why we didn’t opt for marriage to which i responded that I had no idea about.
We later after all documents were in hand with the consultation of a new lawyer cancelled and applied for marriage which was put through and we got our date.
Our given date was then postponed for 5months which ends next month (May 2025)
We were visited by the police at home and also went for separate interviews and its been a month and half now and still no news from the commune. I called to follow up but they say they are yet to receive news from the parket and with time closing in I am really stressed.
Does anyone have such experience or does anyone have any idea on the whole system please and thank you.
