Mediation Procedure
I recently got a letter from the municipality because I left my paper trash outside in the street for one week (it was not really my fault, but the trash collectors didn't come on the usual day, and so I left it out there thinking they might pick it up another day). They fined me 75 Euros for that, but at the same time, they offered me to come for a mediation procedure where I could present my case. After that, they would decide whether I would have to pay the fine. Has anybody gone though such a procedure? I wonder how my chances are that they drop the fine.
If your trash isn't collected, it's your responsibility to bring it in and put it out again next time.
The mediation service should not cost anything and you can put your case. They are normally friendly and a good chance they will cancel the fine. Otherwise just pay up.
Great news. On probation - ha ha - oh well.
