Moving house cleaning duties
We are moving out of our house after 16 years and although I am going to clean thoroughly, do we need to do all the windows and other specific things, I mean we will clean oven and fridge/freezer cause they belong to landlord and we are leaving all our lights although they were not too pleased, but as it would be more hassle to get them all down and there was only wires with a bulb when we moved in, I think they thought we were asking them to purchase them which we were not.
Obviously this kind of thing depends on the attitude of the landlord but, in principle, if there is anything with which they can find fault, they may do so.
We had an excellent relationship with the owner of our last rented place - but we still cleaned everything before we moved out.
You will be well advised to clean everything because the experts are very picky during the etats des lieu des sortie. A quick checklist of the things you definitely need to clean: windows and doors, all shelves whether in the closet or kitchen, carpets (sometimes you need proof they were steam cleaned), air filters above the cooking stove, dish washer, everything in the bathroom including the accumulated calc on the faucets, and naturally the floors.
I strongly advise you to clean every inch of the property before you go. Work your way around by getting rid of all things you don't need first. Then proceed to dusting off all rooms (including hard-to-reach areas like under the bed etc.)
It is an absolute MUST to make sure the kitchen appliances are as cleaner as possible. Make it all shine. Indeed, it is challenging but it's worth if you really care about your deposit. :)
