Moving out notification
Dear all, in my rent contract it is stated that I can move out within 1 month notification. I did notify my landlord April 3 and want to move out May 31. He replies that he will not give me security deposit if I will not stay until the end of the contract which is July 31.
Is he allowed to do so?
Eugene. You have asked three contradictory questions here. Are you a tenant or a landlord.
In answer to this question, it depends what is written in your contract. If you leave early there will be a penalty and paying till end of July seems totally normal and reasonable.
You can always take your contract and go and ask a notary. Then you will get a correct answer for your circumstances.
The lesson here for anyone renting a property is to make sure your contract is correct, your deposit is paid into a blocked account and to get an état de lieu done on arrival and departure.
What is written in your contract?
What type of contract is it?
What region is the property in?
Oh what fun!
Please cut and paste the relevant paragraph of your contract here so that we can see what the language says. If it is anything like a standard Beglian rental contract, it will not say that you (sic) "can move out within 1 month notification".
If you don't give us the basic information about the contract, there's no way that anyone can give you any advice that is useful.
