Mutuelle information

I recently received my professional card for work as a freelancer and signed up for mutuelle coverage. Is there a waiting period before I am covered? I did receive an information packet but as it is in French, there are somethings which I do not understand. Is there some way I can obtain an English translation of the benefits and how one uses the system?
