nationality - 4 months crossed no news yet
By declaration
Applied in commune on 23/10
Commune sent to state/ministry - 23/11
Absolute no news until till now on the application. Went to commune to check the status but they just ask to wait for more time.
Is this a normal situation? How long it could take more to hear some news? thanks in advance for your insights on this situation!
They have 4 months to REJECT your application. As you've not had a rejection letter, you've got it. Just a matter of time before the commune gets its act together.
Which commune?
Years ago the waiting time was 3 months, and if the commune did not receive an answer they were obliged to issue the nationality.
As far as I know they have 6 months in total to refuse you. If no answer it means a good sign. Just wait one more week that you turn completely 6 months from your date of application and the commune will sent you a letter to come and renew your ID card this time they will collect from you your foreigners card and you will apply for a Belgian ID
I think the fact that it took the commune a month to send the forms in shows that they're not the most efficient around. Most do it next day.
JNN Can't remember but can be described as several. Not ancient :-()
I'm curious if the original poster, JNN, ever had any police control check at his/her residence, and if so, after how many weeks or months it happened. (I'm hesitant to put in my application now, in case I'm away on summer holidays during a potential police check)
