Need help with US/Belgian taxes + freelance work

Question

We have just moved to Brussels and are trying to get a better handle on our new and very confusing tax situation. We have Belgian income of course as well as US rental income, and also I will be freelancing for US-based organizations. We have someone to help us with the US side, but we we need help locally. Any recommendations out there?

We tried a couple of accountants in Brussels and they were horrible in the sense that they were running late, then they didn't really show interest in our case, but I guess that's part of the Belgian charm.
Somebody recommended this firm: http://www.brussels-accountants.be/en/

They are a bit more expensive than the rest, but the first consult is free, and we were really pleased with their advice so we stuck with them. We met for an hour initially and they covered things that the other accountants didn't mention so we were impressed as we kind of new. Only downside for many i think is the higher fees, but you get what you pay for i suppose.

Thanks so much, I will follow up. Scary to think about getting incorrect or incomplete advice as we would have no idea!

I moved from London and found myself I think in a similar position to yourselves. I would suggest paying a bit more to get good advice as per the first answer posted to your question. I used a reputable international firm of accountants who I used in London but I am afraid I can't recommend them. No sense of urgency and really poor service, in the end I wrote to the CEO.....so frustrating. Hope this helps.
