New flights from Brussels to Shanghai from summer
From June this year, the Belgian capital will once again be linked directly to Shanghai, two airlines have announced.
From 18 June, there will be up to three direct flights a day from Brussels Airport to China.
The first airline is Hainan Airlines, with four flights a week on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The company flew from Brussels and the Chinese capital before the pandemic. Hainan already operates flights from Brussels Airport to Beijing (daily) and to Shenzhen (three times a week).
When it relaunches its Shanghai route, it will fly up to twice a day from Brussels to China.
Juneyao Air, another Chinese operator, will be on the Brussels tarmac for the first time on 1 July.
The company will also operate three return flights a week between its Shanghai base and Brussels – on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.
This means that on some days there will be three direct flights from Belgium to China and vice versa, Juneyao said.
The news comes following the announcement that Belgians visiting China for up to two weeks will no longer need a visa.
