Belgian athletes gather at the Atomium for ‘Pre-Olympic’ get-together
With the clock ticking down on the start of the Olympic Games in Paris on 26 July, Belgium’s athletes gathered at the Atomium in Brussels for a 'Pre-Olympic Get Together', reports Bruzz.
The photo opportunity was an occasion to get to know each other and exchange experiences and expectations ahead of the summer games, said the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee.
Mission head Olav Spahl underlined the importance of strengthening the team. "The more bonds we create, the more stable Team Belgium will be," he said.
The Atomium was an emblematic location for the get-together. "This building, a symbol of innovation, is the ideal place to bring together our athletes and the delegation," said Julie Almau Gonzalez, general director of the Atomium.
"I wish the athletes a lot of success and inspiration. May your achievements shine like the Atomium itself. We support you and believe in your strength and perseverance," she added.
Around 200 hundred people were present for the event - athletes and members of the delegation - including representatives of the three team sports: the Belgian Cats (women’s basketball), the Red Lions ‘men’s hockey) and the Red Panthers (women's hockey).
The Paris Olympic Games run from 26 July to 11 August, and the Paralympic Games from 28 August to 8 September.
