No departing passenger flights at Brussels Airport on 14 October due to strike
There will be no departing passenger flights at Brussels Airport on Tuesday 14 October due to a nationwide day of strike action.
“As a result of the national trade union action and the announced strike by a large number of employees at G4S, the security service provider, Brussels Airport unfortunately expects a major impact on airport operations on that day,” the airport’s management said in a statement.
Brussels Airport is asking passengers not to come to the airport on that day.
There will be no departing flights and while incoming flights may continue, cancellations are also possible.
Airlines will inform affected passengers directly about any cancellation of their flight and their options.
The airport noted that the 14 October strike is already the sixth national strike this year with a major impact on the airport and its airlines, “even though these actions are directed against the policies and measures of the federal government”.
“This year, the national demonstrations have already affected a total of 250,000 passengers and cost the Belgian economy a total of €150 million,” management said in a statement.
“Brussels Airport deeply regrets the impact of this national trade union action on its passengers.”
