Winter Wonders - City of Brussels
16:45 26/11/2025
As days darken, festive Christmas markets turn on their lights up and down the country. Meanwhile, fiery flamenco and other winter-warming performances and events provide alternative warming seasonal fare.

The capital’s end-of-year extravaganza Winter Wonders opens with fanfare on Friday. From midday, the Christmas market opens its festooned doors, while the official inauguration is staged in the Grand Place from 18.00. An inaugural aerial show by two cute bluebirds is followed by a video mapping and laser show beamed around the medieval square. It’s then time to switch on the lights of the traditional Christmas tree, decorated this year by designer Jean-Paul Lespagnard. A new nativity scene also comes alive with illuminations. This year’s theme for the capital’s Christmas village is “Weaving Winter”, which draws together culture, creation and encounters emphasising the importance of solidarity and connectivity during the festive season. 28 December to 1 January (until 4 January Place de Brouckère), across the city centre
