Brussels fire brigade donates three fire engines to Ukraine

10:45 06/07/2026

The Brussels fire brigade has donated equipment to Ukraine for the fourth time since the Russian invasion in 2022, this time in the form of three fire engines which are being sent to the capital, Kyiv.

“It’s a gesture of solidarity with the Ukrainian emergency services, who are still facing the consequences of the war,” said fire service spokesman Walter Derieuw.

"The three vehicles were also fully loaded with all kinds of fire-fighting equipment and supplies for emergency medical care, to provide the Ukrainian emergency services with the best possible operational support," he added.

"With this latest initiative, the Brussels fire brigade brings the total number of vehicles donated to Ukraine to 12."

The new donation was made possible with the support of various partners, in particular the City of Brussels, Saint Peter’s Hospital and the office of the minister-president of the Brussels region.

“Behind every donation of equipment lies more than just a logistical operation,” said Derieuw.

“It is, first and foremost, an act of solidarity between emergency services.”

Kyiv was hit last week by the heaviest rocket and drone attack since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022. At least 30 people were killed, and a large number of apartment blocks were hit.
