Brussels fugitive turns himself in to police
A 34-year-old man on Belgium’s most-wanted list has turned himself in voluntarily at Brussels' Justice Palace.
The man had been on the run since 21 June 2026 after being sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for his involvement in a shooting on the night of 21 to 22 March 2025 at a night shop in Anderlecht.
During the incident, a man opened fire and a victim was hit by four bullets but survived.
The sentence also came with an order for immediate arrest, but the man had removed his electronic tag shortly before the verdict was handed down and fled.
Following his escape, a joint investigation was launched by the federal police’s FAST (Fugitive Active Search Team) and the Brussels-South police zone.
Given the seriousness of the offences, the suspect was classified as a high-priority fugitive and his wanted notice was therefore circulated via the most-wanted list.
The man was accompanied by his lawyer when he turned himself in.
