Question

My cleaning lady has just called (this is becoming common) saying that due to the strike in brussels, she can't make it to our home- the metro's are closed. Does anyone know if this is true?

There is no strike today as far as I'm aware (there is one planned for 21 February though) and the metro is running normally. Today there is a large demonstration (about 8000 participants expected) of federal civil servants in the center of Brussels. So it could be that some of the metro stations there are temporarily closed. Also, access to the Schuman area is blocked off today afternoon and tomorrow due to the summit so if she needs to use that metro station she would need to make quite a detour.
