STIB demands 10 fines a day from its inspectors
Belgium

A leaked email reveals that the management of Brussels public transport operator STIB requires its ticket inspectors to issue a minimum of 10 fines a day, reports La Dernière Heure. Instead of insisting on conducting as many inspections as possible, the incriminating memo from one manager explicitly urges the agents to achieve “the daily target of ten fines per inspector that was agreed on last Tuesday”. Further in the email, the agents are exhorted to “make sure to issue as many fines as possible!”. Fines for fare-dodging are €100 for the first offence and €200 for a repeat offence, and €380 for using a forged pass or one belonging to someone else.
