Follow the knife-edge contest at the US Election Night tonight
Four years ago, Obama-mania saw thousands flocking to the European quarter in Brussels to join the election fever gripping the world. Today, as more than 120 million Americans cast their votes, it’s a very different picture. The outcome is still too close to call, with polls suggesting that President Obama and republican contender Mitt Romney are level with 48 percent of support after throwing themselves into an exhausting round of last-minute campaigning in the marginal battleground states (watch Ohio tonight). America may be divided, but here in traditionally pro-democrat Europe, the incumbent is believed to have the edge, despite widespread disaffection with Barack Obama’s performance. Once again the Renaissance Hotel will be filling up tonight as people of all nationalities gather to follow live coverage of US Election Night. Jointly organised by www.thebulletin.be and American Club of Brussels, it promises to be another nail-biting night.
Doors open at 20.30; admission is €15.
