Reynders denies knowing Georgian fugitive’s whereabouts
Belgium
11:55 08/01/2013
Belgian foreign minister Didier Reynders has no information about former Georgian justice minister Zurab Adeishvili (pictured), various Georgian media quote the foreign ministry as saying. Reports had been rife on social networks on that Adeishvili was in Belgium and had asked for asylum from the Belgian authorities. He was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment in absentia on Saturday and his passports were revoked. The prosecutor’s office says Adeishvili will soon be declared wanted internationally. Charges had been filed against him in connection with shocking videos depicting inhuman treatment to prisoners before the 2012 parliamentary elections in Georgia.
