FedEx launches domestic delivery service
Courier company FedEx is to launch a domestic delivery service in Belgium, reports Post & Parcel. The FedEx Priority Overnight service follows the launch of the service in Switzerland last year. FedEx said the door-to-door time-definite service would provide transit in one business day for all envelopes and packages weighing up to 68kg, with cut-off times for drop-off and pick up potentially as late as 20.00. Patrick Stienlet, operations managing director for Benelux, said: “Introducing this domestic service offers our customers in Belgium a bundled solution, enabling them to have a single account and use a single pick-up for both international and domestic deliveries. Our aim is to provide improved services and greater flexibility for our customers.” FedEx has been expanding its operations in Belgium, last year opening a station in Tongeren, Limburg province, while a centre was also opened in 2011 in Machelen, Flemish Brabant. Brussels has been home to FedEx’s European headquarters since 1985 and the company employs 924 people in Belgium. FedEx said the Priority Overnight service was also being extended into France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Denmark and the Netherlands.
