6 month rental in Brussels
Nope
Hardly any furnished apartments on immoweb will be available for 6 months rentals, you're far better off looking at serviced apartments, you're unlikely to find cheaper on immoweb, once you've added extra costs like gas, electricity, water, entry and exit inspections, damages. I'd give you a 1% chance of finding a 6 months rental on immoweb which is cheaper than some serviced apartments. You could even look on airbnb.
Contact a couple of agents, it doesn't matter where you find them but they should do the leg work for you.
would a room in a family house be of interest ? available from 1st July, in Ixelles
I have yet to find an regular estate agent do any leg work and in fact I don't think I'd want to trust any agent anyway. You can get short term lets with specialists like Home in Brussels and Zeagency who are at the more normal lower end of the market and quite livable apartments, or there are the higher cost ones like Thon.
Try Facebook. There are a lot of Stagieres looking for places to rent short term - it's not uncommon. Just find the right group and you will either get ads or advice.
You don't say when you are arriving but something like this (from small ads on this site) might suit:
http://www.xpats.com/adorable-1-bedroom-flat-sublet-june-oct-%E2%82%AC65...
(no it is not my ad) and there were a couple of other short terms lets advertised as well - there were also some close to Grand Place yesterday but can't find them for the moment - check it out.
I would try Atlantis Real Estate:

I found them to be great. Good luck!
