Slapping children in school
Off course not! A teacher at my children's school got fired on the spot for slapping a child. This teacher slapped a child of one of his colleagues (teacher in the same school), this colleague immediately went to the headteacher AND the police. The teacher who had slapped got fired within hours. Totally unacceptable to slap any child imho. I can understand that teachers are often under a lot of stress and admire them for what they do but nothing can excuse slapping a child. If you know of a teacher slapping a child, please do the right thing and report this behaviour.

They are very helpful and in my experience wise with the confidential information/ concerns you give them.
I know a child slapped by a teacher and the parent told the head and the head di nothing except for acknowledging the incident happened, the parent felt unable without French or Dutch to go to the Police.
What!!!!!!!!!!!
Teacher slapping a child is not acceptable.
Please do report this incident and save other children....
Parents' Association as well as above organisations.
It's far harder than people think to report poor behaviour of staff at school than us outsiders reading this think, because if your concerns are not taken seriously, as so often happens here when it's foreigners reporting them, then it can backfire on you. I tried and failed myself. A child looked after by a teacher who I know was reported by another parent had a near miss recently, it made me very angry to hear about the incident of the near miss which was reported by a 4 year old and confirmed by the teacher who just wanted to know had told on her! I don't know what the parent did after the near miss with her child. Nothing shocks me here.
If it were my child I would speak to a few other parents with children in your daughters class, chances are that one of these kids has also complained to their parents about this. Then you can go to the headteacher together. If you don't know any of the other parents, then yes, I think you need to talk to the school by yourself. In this case you could also just go to the teacher who probably knows how things are during nap time. The ladies who keep children during lunch and naps are not qualified teachers. As far as I know no qualifications are necessary for supervising children at school during recess for example. In many schools this is done by the "concierge" who also cleanses the buildings.
"We have the 'testimony' of a child aged less than three who say other people are being slapped. "
Too young to either lie or make it up.
Talk to other parents, teacher, head teacher, parents rep. Someone will be able to help.
Hi,
as I am currently looking into maternelles for my child, and want to avoid slapping, could you please post info on what school your child goes to?
It will be put on my black list please. I would like to avoid something similar. And please report this incident, it is unacceptable.
You could get this sort of thing in any maternelle. It's one individual and it's often difficult to convince a head that your child is telling the truth and their member of staff might actually be doing something wrong. It's possible the school at the moment have not a jot what is happening in the sieste room to the children. If and when the OP reports it, if she gets a positive action to her concerns, that would for me be a reason not to blacklist the school, what is far worse is schools where heads will not listen to foreigners.
