Minerva to be resurrected at Ford Genk site?
A group of investors going by the name of Minerva Group Europe are planning to build environmentally friendly cars at the site of Ford Genk after the closure of the factory in 2014, Het Belang van Limburg reveals this morning. The group, which would initially have a capital of €800m, met last week with the direction of Ford Europe. So far, four potential investors have expressed an interest in Genk site. The car manufacturer now has to study the reliability and feasibility of each project. It must also consult the various stakeholders, which include the Flemish government. Minerva Group Europe, whose name refers to the legendary Belgian car manufacturer, is an international group looking for a production site for assembling a new environmentally friendly car, which is expected to be developed in the coming years. The origin of the €800m at the disposal of the group is as yet unknown.
