BE id Card collection

Question

Hi ,

Is it okay if i go to commune to collect BE id card after 2 months of applying ?

Currently i am on vacation and will not be able to go to BE till next 2 months.

Will they put some penalty or refuse to give me card ?

regards

Have the police been to visit you yet to check you live there?
For my latest move It took 3 months for the police to get around to coming.

Your ID cards will only be ready after the police have been and confirmed you live at the address (sometimes they just ring the bell, other times they want to come in and look around, other times the come in and ask questions.).

Hi ,

I have recently received BE citizenship and had gone to commune
to apply for card in May end . They asked me to come back in 2-3 weeks time
along with the password for card (which i would receive by post).
This implies card will be ready mid June. But i can go to commune only
July end .
Will it be a problem ?

I can only recall what happened with our EU E-ID residents' cards which are manufactured by the same company. We went to the commune to submit the photos and it did indeed take around 3 weeks to receive the PINs by post. We didn't go back immediately with these PINs, we did it when we had time.

I cannot imagine it would be a problem to return when available. You have proof of a nationality and identity yes, so are conforming to having that proof on you when you go out?

Perhaps there is a "sell be date" whereby you do have to go and collect the ID cards, perhaps it will come with the PINs.

If you're worried, could you not just phone your local maison communale / gemeetehuis to check?

My daughter was late in collecting her card when she moved, she eventually got a letter reminding her to collect it, Ixelles Commune.
