This your 2 year old kid? Make it and let your kid help. Have you seen what 2 year olds do to cake? Don't waste money playing the 'who can send in the best looking (most expensive) cake this year' competition. You can't win and seriously, there is no point to the competition.

We had a cake at school which was professionally made. The price was left on the top. 80 euro. The kids hated it. The teachers ate it.

You could make a plain cake at home. You send it into the creche with ready made icing and decorations. You hand them your camera. You ask the staff to get the kids to decorate the cake as their morning activity. The kids can learn doing thing, fine hand control, making heart pattern with the decorations, or putting all red decorations together, all white decorations together. Ask the teacher to take photos of all the things they do whilst decorating. Ask the teacher to get all the children on one photo if possible. Take the camera home, develop X number of the photos, one for each child, next time at creche, deliver the photos in individual envelopes, write your child's details on it, thanking the children for making the birthday cake, and making a memorable day. That is memory for the future for the children. It's a far better present than a goodie bag or a professional cake.
