Milquet wants more women in police force

12:52 30/08/2013

Minister of Home Affairs and Equal Opportunities, Joëlle Milquet has 20 guidelines ready that should attract more women to the police force. Belgium's police corps remains a predominantly male bastion, where only one in three police officers is a woman. Women are especially underrepresented in top positions, with only 3 percent working as police commissioners and 10.8 percent as chief inspectors. Milquet aims to address this imbalance by making a career in the police force more attractive to women, one that provides continuous training and encourages promotion from within.
