Best syndicat for independents

Does anyone have any experience with the syndicats SDI or UCM? I have a friend who's happy with SDI, but I haven't been able to speak to anyone who is a member of UCM. I am interested primarily in the legal services they offer to independents (advice, problems with clients), although the incapacity offers are also a consideration.
