car starter problem price

My car wouldnt start, but did eventually after a few tries. It makes a loud short wheezing sound upon starting now. Mechanic said it should be the starter. Hoping its not the engine! What does it cost to fix / replace a starter for a peugeot 206? I was quoted around 200 euros.
Please advice.
If you have DIY capabilities a starter is usually an easy job - Ive changed them in a few minutes. - depending on the car - they can sometimes be accessed from above -- but more usually from underneath.
2 or 3 bolts and disconnecting and reconnecting the wires.
However -- If you don't want to lie on your back under a car in the cold - then €200 isn't a bad price to pay someone else to do it!
