Moving from Brussels to North America - how to move items?
Hello, in a couple weeks I move from Belgium to North America. I am looking at options for how to ship my goods. Thus far, it seems the only options are sending multiple boxes via DHL Express or contacting a shipper in Antwerp (which will cost several thousand euros from what I understand). I am wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives, as I am mostly moving clothes and books - not so much furniture - using a shipper in Antwerp seems too much; however, I have a decent amount of smaller personal items to be sent. Immediacy or expeditiousness is not an issue. Any knowledge of other options or advice?
Have you tried these guys?

The other alternative is to try and find a shipping company that will do "Less than Container Load" (LCL). shipping for you.
The only potential problem with LCL shipping, is that to get a quote, you'll have to know the dimensions and weight of any box (or boxes) that will contain everything, and you'll probably have to deliver it and pick it up yourself from the port at each end.
clothes and books...
I had a friend in switzerland who moved to the usa and as things are cheaper there, she calculated that she could re-buy most of her books, clothing and that would be cheaper than sending stuff. Obviously she had some "sentimental" books that she took with her, but 95% of the rest she bought used and that turned out cheaper than rebuying them, specially that you can get a lot of used books nowadays online.
Clothes, same thing. Just a thought!
Try DSV. Have used them professionally and they have very competitive rates.
Avoid Ark Holdings / 24-7 Movers International (same company) VAT / BTW: BE0837 712 784, Owner: Robert Adam Kasozi. http://www.arkholdings.biz/
They stole our things and out money. We just found out they declared bankruptcy and are still operating in Belgium with the same VAT!
Good luck
