Belgian ID & passport question

Question

I am an American with a Belgian ID and Belgian passport. I am moving to the UK end of month, my Belgian ID expires in May 2014 and passport in August 2014. I know I can (and will) renew my passport at the Belgian embassy in England. Do I have to renew my ID as a Belgian citizen living in another country? Thank you for any advice or wisdom!

Best place to ask this question is at your commune. My feeling is that if you are leaving Belgium to live in the UK, then you will need to advise the commune of this fact anyway.
