Apartment renovation costs?

Question

I'm planning to buy an apartment and waswondering - how much one needs to budget for renovation costs? I don't mean major renovation (e.g. insulation, breaking walls, etc) but still every apartment needs a refresh.

For example, how much would it cost to have a new parquet floor (for ~100 m2)? Or to have a new kitchen installed? Or just to re-paint the rooms?

Nan

this is all relative on quality and size... an Ikea kitchen can run abouut 1500 (install yourself) to a high range kitchen of 30,000 euros. Bathrooms aer the same way, we bought our tiles and such from outlet stores and the tubs and showers from the same in the Nl's, but still went high end.

Parquet can run from 10 euros per square meter, up to sky is the limit.

On average, you might spend 14-16 euros per sq meter. Really depends on the type/brandname of parquet you choose. You can go to brico and get their parquet for cheap, or you can go high end and pay 40-50 euros per sq meter. From there, you do the math and see what 100 sq m2 will cost. And that doesn't include the installation. You can do that yourself for free or you can hire others and that will get you different quotes.

It's been a while but I want to say that we were quoted from 800 euros to 2000 euros to lay 30 sq meters of parquet from official Belgian companies. We thought that was a bit expensive so we did it ourselves.

Paint in Belgium is expensive. Just go to a brico store and you can easily do the math for that one, but that might run you like 50 euros per 2.5 L just for the paint. If you're lucky, somebody can do the job for you for 10 euros per hour, but that might not be the official Belgian rate.

Then you might hav to do electrical work and ongoing rates for that is 35-55 euros per hour.
