Belgium continues to reduce nuclear stockpile
Belgium

During yesterday's Summit on Nuclear Safety in The Hague, Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo reconfirmed Belgium's dedication to the American-led effort to ensure that "terrorists never get a nuclear weapon."
Part of the initiative requires countries to ship their excess uranium and plutonium to the United States to be processed. So far, Japan, Italy and Belgium have followed through in this effort, based on a decision made during the 2012 Nuclear Summit.
Special staff had to be trained in order to remove the material, which was safely packed in shipping containers certified by both American and Belgian regulators.
