More than 86,000 speeding tickets were issued in 2013 for drivers breaking the speed limit in 30 km/h zones. Across the country, in 2013, 86,442 drivers were caught on speed camera in 30 km/h zones, which is nearly 30% more than in 2012 (66,684 tickets) and 44% more than in 2011 (59,846 tickets). This rise in speeding offences was observed by both federal and local police.
Chief superintendent Jean-Marie Brabant, who is president of the local police commission, said that the numbers could be explained by the fact “there are an increasing number of 30 km/h zones and police checks”.

I wonder how many of these motorists actually paid their fine?
I have no problem with these zones during school days and school hours ..... but at night and weekends they should return to the normal 50!
