Promoting a forum
Hello everyone.
I had an idea - to create a forum for people who find themselves in a situation where they need a plus 1. Like - you want to see a movie, but all your friends have seen it already, or you have a spare ticket to a concert and don't know anyone that wants to go with you. I thought this was a great idea and I created it about a month ago and it has not had one post. Not one.
Does anyone have any thoughts - am I doing something wrong? I really thought people would be interested in something like this. I am on my own with that thought?
Any thoughts would be warmly received.

maybe you could provide a link to your forum? does it have a twitter account or Facebook page?
There was a section here on xpats some years ago for finding friends to go out with and share hobbies. It worked well for some time, until the owner changed from British to Belgian. Then this section went down the drain, was spammed with sex ads and was finally eliminated.
I think there is demand for this kind of forum among xpats, but I think one needs to do some "advertising" for it as well. If one does not know it exists, one cannot use it....
It might help if you posted the address of the forum.
Where did you post this forum? Maybe that the issue.
I think that this is a good idea IN THEORY but in practice I'm not sure it will take off. All sorts of people will be attracted by this (in the negative sense) and you should be very careful, after all, potentially you are organising two people to be together and things may go into unplanned territory.... All very sad, but true. But, I wish you well with it.
To promote it, I think you might need to look into Search Engine Optimisation or the like.
