Debts from 2011

Question

Hi,

was wandering if anyone can help point me in the right direction, split up with the wife in 2011. Apartment was repossesed by the bank, also other debts commune/tax ect. I am now back in Belgium but I never deregistered when I left, I start work again next month. Is there any where I can go and find out what my debts are, and how I can go about paying back everyone.

Any help or guidance would be welcomened, thanks inadvance John

Suggest you go to your local commune and tax office in person and any papers you have take them with you.
For all your utility bills, contact them individually and if you have any details offer to send them a copy. For example electricity contact Electrabel.

Go sooner rather than later.

Hi John did you use any one legal for your split from your wife? It might be they have some paperwork that was sent on. Where is your ex wife does she know anything or would you rather not ask her?
Also maybe go to the bank that repossessed your house. Were you for example ever declared bankrupt? The terms for debt here are different to UK. You may struggle to find credit for a while for things like car leases etc.
also better go to your old commune and explain you left and are now back not sure. I don't know if the local police are ever involved but debts can take ages to catch up with you. Better to write down all you remember prior. I don't know if test achets deal with this in the UK the CAb definitely can. All the best
