Maximum period of temporary contracts with European Institutions

Question

I believe there is a rule regarding the maximum period one can spend in temporary employment with the European institutions. I would like to find the actual document that sets out the rule. I want to know if it includes both Seconded Expert service and Contract Agent service for the purpose of calculating the maximum period. Also to check if the maximum period is seven years as I think it is. Anyone who knows about this - expecially if you know the source of the rule - I would be very grateful if you can let me know and/or post a link to the source of the rule. Many thanks

It used to be six years and since 1 January 2014 is seven years.

All non-temporary work is included in the time period: work as a Contract Agent, Seconded National Expert, Temporary Agent. Only periods as an interimaire are excluded.

Original decision: http://ec.europa.eu/civil_service/docs/6-year_rule_c_2011_7071_en.pdf

Amendment (which changes the period to seven years): http://ec.europa.eu/civil_service/docs/decision_7_rule_en.pdf

Sorry, "All non-temporary work" should obviously be "all non-permanent work".
