Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam extradited to France
Terror suspect Salah Abdeslam was discreetly transferred from Belgium to France early Wednesday morning, write various Belgian and international media. There was no communication from official sources on Abdeslam's extradition in order to minimise the risk of a possible escape.
Abdeslam is now in the hands of the French court, which will question him about his suspected involvement in the deadly terror attacks that struck Paris on 13 November, 2015. Defence lawyer Frank Berton (pictured) of Lille will represent Abdeslam in court.
Berton says he accepted the job because he believes that Abdeslam wants to cooperate in the investigation. "In the aftermath of the tragic events in Paris he collapsed, but now he is willing to give more explanation and possibly even work together with the French court," he told the French news channel BFMTV.
