Vocational training for international student's spous

Question

We have plan to move Brussels for my wife's PhD in ULB. However, I am confused what can I do there. I did my Master's degree in Japan, and now expecting to complete my PhD in environmental engineering (mostly disaster mitigation). We are non-EU, and have found is difficult to get job for non-EU spouse. Then I don't know French or Dutch. Is there any suggestions how can use my time there? I am also looking for any vocational training which may help me to get job in future. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there are many NGOs located here maybe find one that you think you could assist and volunteer to help them. If you did that part time whilst her I'm. Sure it would look good on your CV.
Also may be worth getting in touch with Chalks at people to people here because he knows lots of people and may well have some ideas for you. http://www.meetup.com/socialNIB/ Good luck

Hi, thanks! I have already gone through internet search, many jobs require EU citizenship, and or fluency in French or Dutch. Is it possible that I can involve in learning language and do some part time jobs? As far I can understand for spouse has very strict rule, especially to have job permit. We are in Japan now, don't know if we really can suit there. I was in Sweden, never felt like Europe has this kind of rule. However, we don't want to hopeless, we expect I can do something essential for my career. Anyway, if possible can you or anyone share how can apply to assist and volunteer NGOs there?
