Inheritance

Question

Hello - I am Belgian, my husband is British and he has assets in both Belgium and Britain. We got married in Belgium 5 years ago, without a marriage contract. We both have children out of an earlier marriage. Can anyone give us advice (or refer us to someone who can) on how to go about making a valid will regarding the assets in both countries ? Many thanks !

You need to speak with a notaire. There is a lot of information here as well:

Whether you need to do anything complicated to cover the U.K. assets will depend on what they are. If it's cash and investments, then basically nothing. If it's property, then you do need to do something. A great deal of Belgians own property or have assets abroad, so it's not that unusual for a Belgian notaire to deal with.
