Question

Hi there,

I would like to exchange the equivalent of £1000 in euros from my ING account into pounds. What is the most cost-effective way to do that? I will be going to the UK next week and am happy to take cash if that is the best solution. Or I can transfer the money from my ING account into my UK account.

The best way is normally just to withdraw the cash from a bank ATM when you arrive in the UK. Reduces the risk of you loosing the cash on the way over and the exchange rates are normally about the same. Just make sure that your bank card will work outside of Belgium by checking with your bank first.
