Gardener

I am renting a nice house with a middium size garden near Brussels. The gardener asked me to pay about 3000 euros and I just got shocked. I did not know that cost this much.  How I can find a gardener or person to mow lawn? I am also thing to cut it by myself. Please advise me about the mower.
