Crèche for 2 half year old in Watermael Boitsfort
Hi, we have just moved to Brussels 2 weeks ago and are living in WB. Back in Australia my son was going to a local Kindy 2 days a week. I am looking for something similar for 2 or 3 days a week. I'm not interested in an International school at this stage. I'm looking for something local that he can play and have fun with other kids. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.... C
Children start school at age 2 1/2 to 3 here, so no regular creche will accept a child that old and they would not fit in too well anyway as the eldest child.
.
You could consider an occasional creche such Farandolienne which runs 2 mornings a week in Watermael-Boitsfort protestant church and other mornings in Etterbeek and WSL and WEzembeek.
.
However, if you are interesting in integrating, then school is the obvious place to look. Most children go full time, but a tiny few go part time, usually mornings only 5 days a week, although no obligation to attend at all, I'd recommend it for a child without French.
.
Take a look on this map and see which school is your nearest. La Sainte Famille will have no places at all, possibly not l'Assomption either which are the 2 most popular schools in the commune it seems, the other schools are more likely to have places. There are 3 maternelle only schools in Watermael-Boitsfort too, much smaller than the combined maternelles-primaires. There is a large international population in the commune and you should find a substantial proportion of non French speaking expat type children in all schools. Don't limit your self to communal or Catholic, if you go down the school route, there is no religion for 2 1/2 year olds in Catholic local schools. I'd look at the nearest schools first. Schools near to home and in another commune are options too.
