Question
Just received a letter telling me my garage box rent will go up from 69 euro to 125 euro starting December 1.Called the company and the man told me they are free to go up on the rent of garage as they decide.Want to know if this is legal, have this box for 15 years but it was recently sold to someone else.Thank you.
what does your contract say?
If it's been sold, then yes, they can charge you whatever. As it's a garage, you do not have the security of tenure that you would have if you lived in it.
However, 1/12 must be 1/12/2014 - they cannot backdate an increase for more than a few months.
I'd just have a quick chat on www.pim.be, or with a real lawyer. I'm not exactly an expert on parking slots.
