Ghent-Ostende commute, part-time job, info on area, school, housing
Though we had decided to live in Brugge while husband commutes to Ostende, we are having second thoughts...
Ghent keeps coming up in our minds as we long for a more multicultural environment (having been tired of smaller-town-living in recent years).
I thank all who have offered advice on this dilemma and kindly invite some more advice on:
1. Ghent-Ostende commute - how long - how? 2. living in Ghent 3. good local schools in Ghent for kindergarten 4. renting a house in Ghent (good areas close to train station).
One important piece of information that i did not mention in my previous posts is that my husband's job requires him to be working part-time, allowing him to decide the days/hours. We are assuming that we could figure out a solution as far as the commute is concerned...
I thank once again in advance!
Gent is really not particularly multi-cultural or offering advantages for families, I'd stick with Oostende or Brugge.
.
You'll find good schools throughout Flanders, just find one with space amongst the nearest 3 or 4 schools to home.
.
You can find details of commute times by using google mapping. I'd say a minimum of 1 hour on a good commuting day, if work is near to Oostende train station, the train would be a much better option than driving. But it's 20 minutes Oostende to Brugge, so looking at 1 hour and 20 minutes MORE commuting time to Gent. It's really a no brainer, Oostende for a quick commute, otherwise Brugge.
