Trump sends ambassador to Paris instead of Brussels
US President Donald Trump has nominated businesswoman Jamie McCourt to become the new US ambassador to France, the White House said in a statement on Wednesday. The nomination is remarkable because the president had already tapped McCourt to become the ambassador to Belgium.
The proposal to nominate McCourt as ambassador in Paris was sent to the Senate, which still has to approve the ambassador's appointment. The White House announcement clearly states that the Senate no longer needs to provide a response to the previous appointment of McCourt as ambassador to Belgium. That nomination, sent to the Senate on 26 June, has been withdrawn for reasons still unclear.
The 63-year-old attorney and businesswoman Jamie McCourt formerly headed the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, and has no experience as a diplomat. She supported Trump during his election campaign in 2016.

The US Embassy in Brussels is headed for long-term turmoil with their planned move. For starters, the Watermael mayor is trying to block their building/demolition plans.
Trump was in Paris in July at Macron's invitation. Ms McCourt physically resembles Madame Macron and is just one year younger. Perhaps Trump feels it would be to his advantage to have her in Paris.
I really like your take on the issue. I now have a clear idea on what this matter is all about..
