Ryanair announces further cancellations for the winter
Around 400,000 passengers are expected to be affected by the cancellation of flights between November and March, Ryanair announced on Wednesday. A total of 34 routes are due to be suspended over the winter season.
According to a Belga report, the budget airline will be operating 25 fewer aircraft of its 400-strong fleet until the end of March. Ryanair says the decision will avoid further cancellations due to the working schedule of cockpit and cabin staff. Taking more flights out of service means it will be able to maintain operating from its 84 different bases until the end of the year, the company said.
For the first quarter of 2018, Ryanair will slow the company's growth plan to eliminate the risk of further flight cancellations. Less than 1% of passengers travelling this winter will be affected and each one will be informed of the cancellation, allowing them the possibility of reimbursement or changing their flight, said Ryanair.
