Green Stella Artois bottles recalled as safety precaution
If you have any green 33cl bottles of Stella Artois sitting in your fridge, check the label before drinking them.
Belgian brewing giant AB Inbev has recalled a batch of its best-selling beer because it could contain tiny pieces of glass.
The recall comes after spot checks revealed a bottling defect which could have led to tiny chips of glass breaking off and falling into the beer.
As well as Belgium, the precautionary measures apply to about a dozen other countries, including Spain and the Netherlands. "This recall concerns less than 0.08% of Stella Artois bottles sold annually in Belgium," AB Inbev said on Monday.
The green Stella bottles are sold in Delhaize and a small number of pubs and restaurants. The affected batch has a best-before date of 20-21 May 2018 and packing code 49 on the label. The more common brown bottles are not affected.
