Second Hand Car
Before you do it -- check what you have to do to get it registered here -- it is possible -- but takes a lot of time
1. Take all docs to the customs including the sales invoice -- If you buy from a dealer it has to show TVA
2. Customs will present you with a load of paperwork -- If yuou have a certificate of conformity -- go to CT station (if not get one first from the manufacturer or an additional appt at a CT station (usually need a specific appt - my CT station only looks at foreign cars one day a week)
3. Assuming all is good you will be issued with an A4 pink form that you have to get stamped by insurer - Last time I did this the insuers could not arrange the plate as it was an import -- I had to attend a DIV station when a customs officer was on duty (one day a week in my case) who upon checking all papers authorised a plate.
Next time -- I'll buy in Belgium
Agree! Buying a used car from the Netherlands involves a lot of paperwork hassle and extra expenses! Because of this, would not recommend, it is a nightmare... incredible for a European "Union"
